Our approach

Local governments, sporting clubs and community organisations are increasingly demanding greater resource efficiencies and shared use to maximise investments in community infrastructure.

This involves groups that are often steeped in history and emotional attachment. In developing strategic plans for sport and recreation, we depend on our highly developed consultation and inter-personal skills to establish and interpret the key needs and goals of the community.

Balancing community desires with the resource realities of the client requires a keen sense of prioritisation. Our plans provide detailed recommendations designed to achieve quality and tailored outcomes for the client, residents and visitors.

Case studies

Tamworth Recreation and Open Space Plan

The Tamworth Regional Council required a plan for sport and recreation facilities and clubs as well as an open space plan to cope with predicted growth in the next 20 years.

Tamworth Regional Council has been established through the merger of four Councils. As a result, divergent systems and practices were uncovered during the project and detailed recommendations were made, and agreed upon, on how Council should assist clubs and oversee sport and recreation delivery in the future.

Mount Isa Sport and Recreation Plan

Mount Isa City Council required a plan that covered the whole Council area, integrating the community and Council’s sport, recreation and open space aspirations.

Mount Isa’s remote location and high proportion of shift workers present additional challenges to sport and recreation service providers. Key recommendations of this well-received plan included the need for enhanced capacity building and facilitation of organisations to embrace resource-sharing initiatives.
